David Natcher

Trained as a cultural anthropologist, Dr. David Natcher holds graduate degrees from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (Northern Circumpolar Studies) and the University of Alberta (Anthropology). Dr. Natcher has held faculty appointments at the University of Alaska Anchorage and Memorial University of Newfoundland. While at Memorial University, Dr. Natcher held a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Aboriginal Studies.

Dr. Natcher is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture and Resource Economics at the University of Saskatchewan, where he also serves as Assistant Dean in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, Academic Chair of the Indigenous Peoples Resource Management Program, and Executive Director of the Indigenous Land Management Institute. Dr. Natcher’s research in northern food security has been cultivated through applied research partnerships with indigenous communities in Alaska and Canada.
