Executive Assistant to the President

Nancy has been with the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) since April 2006 when she was hired as the Executive Assistant to its first President, Peter Nicholson. As the organization grew, Nancy took on the duties of the Office Manager providing support in office administration, finance, and human resources. In 2010 Nancy moved into the Office Manager roll on a full-time basis and a new Executive Assistant was hired for the organization.

With the arrival of CCA President Eric Meslin in 2016, Nancy returned to the Office of the President as his Executive Assistant providing overall management and logistical support to the Office of the President, the Board of Directors and its committees. She also provides support for the general operations of the CCA, finance, and human resources activities.

Nancy has a Bachelor of General Studies from Thompson Rivers University and a diploma in Hospitality Management from St. Lawrence College. She has spent more than 15 years working in the hotel industry in front desk management, sales, and convention services. Upon leaving the hospitality industry, Nancy started her administrative career in 2004 with the University of Ottawa as Executive Assistant to the Vice-President Research, Howard Alper, who was also serving as the inaugural Chair of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Academies of Science, the predecessor to the CCA.
